Fixture design
In fixture design, we design the mechanical parts of your fixture in CAD around your board and the approved interface. It takes 1 business day for a Dev or Dev Pro fixture and 4 business days for a Production fixture. This phase is FixturFab's work. You don't need to do anything unless we have a question, and answers are due within 1 business day.
What we design
- The cartridge: the probe plate that holds a probe at every test point, plus a sub-probe plate when there is a TPCB, the moving plate where the tier uses one, the pressure plate that holds your board down, and the guide pins or cradle that locate it. See Cartridges.
- The fixture assembly: the base, with any feedthrough plate and fixture options you ordered. On a cartridge-only order we design the cartridge to fit the base you already have.
- The bill of materials, updated to match the design.
Internal review
Before you see the design, a second FixturFab engineer reviews it, which takes 1 business day. They check it against your configuration, the approved Fixture Configuration Review, and our design rules. Issues go back to the design engineer before the design reaches you.
What happens next
When the internal review passes, we send the design to you for design review.
