Ingun Fixture Design Guidelines
This page provides best practices and component recommendations for building reliable Ingun series test fixtures. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance, ease of assembly, and cost-effectiveness.
Recommended Components
Guide Pins
- Misumi PGPU guide pins are the preferred method for accurately locating the DUT (Device Under Test) within the fixture.
- If the DUT's locating holes are smaller than 3mm (minimum 2.5mm), use a custom cradle for positioning.
- Cradles should be mounted to PGPU guide pins using M3 screws for secure and repeatable placement.
Pressure Pins
- Pressure pin length should be selected based on your specific fixture requirements and DUT height.
- Pressure pins are attached to the pressure plate with M3 x 10mm screws, providing consistent downward force on the DUT.
Receptacles and Probes
- Ingun GKS series receptacles and probes are recommended for Ingun fixtures:
- GKS-100 series - Standard performance receptacles for general testing applications
- GKS-075 series - Compact receptacles for high-density test points
- GKS-550 series - Heavy-duty receptacles for demanding test environments
- Probe tip selection:
- Use standard tips for typical test points.
- Use pointed tips for populated through-hole connections.
- Star type probes are also available for specialized contact requirements.
- Many other compatible components are available to suit specific application needs.
Probe Plate
- Design the probe plate with cutouts to avoid interference with tall components on the DUT, ensuring proper fit and probe access.

DUT Mating Height
- Position the DUT at the appropriate height to achieve optimal probe contact within the working stroke range.
- The exact height will depend on your selected pressure pin length and receptacle specifications.
- Use a mounting or tooling hole on the DUT for precise and repeatable alignment.
