What is in a Fixture Design Package

After a test fixture or system has been completed, a design package will provided containing all of the information needed to replicate or maintain the fixture. An example design package can be found here.

The complete design package will contain the following documentation:

  • Design Files
    • Electrical
      • Test Point Carrier Board Design and Fabrication Files
      • Wiring Assembly Drawings
    • Mechanical
      • Test Point Report
        • Test Point Report Used for Designing Test Fixture
      • Fusion360 Model
      • Finite Element Analysis
        • Safety Factor
          • Safety Factor shows a no/no-go for the design according to the selected materials, any value of 1.0 or less is a failure.
        • Displacement
          • Board Displacement shows the displacement/flex of the DUT in millimeters due to the forces applied by the test probes and pressure pins. Displacement of 1.20e-2mm or greater is a failure.
  • Manufacturing
    • CNC Machining Files and Setup Sheets
